Wow. Where has the time gone? Every night I go to bed and among my thoughts are things I want to post about on Feasting On Joy. I have big intentions but lately finding a good chunk of time to post has not happened. I have also been having space issues and memory problems on my computer which hampered the photo rich post I wanted to do tonight. The below update was much needed anyway. It was meant to be to have words only tonight.
We have been busy with our big boys kindergarten graduation, play dates, visiting my sick Grandpa, crops, a Chuck E Cheese visit, a sickness, church baptism, trying out a new church, swim lessons, counseling, and a big Father's Day picnic with some of our friends and family. Oh my! In between all that I have been enjoying sleeping in, time at home playing with my boys and in my brokenness learning to truly trust in the Lord through the roller coaster of life.
I have also remained Gluten Free now for 3 months! Next week I have my follow up appointment with my doctor in regards to going gluten free as well as blood test results. I had blood taken today and they had to take 9 tubes! UUGGH! Coming from a girl who used to be the screamer and all the nurses didn't like, I can't believe how much I have had to have my blood taken in my adult life. It's not so bad anymore though.
I hope to share what I find out at the appointment. Hopefully good news. I have had a chance to do some experimenting with some gluten free cooking lately too and I am happy to be putting together a post with a few good pics and recipes! My confidence is growing in adapting recipes I like or already have to be made gluten free. I also can't wait for this weekend because I get to take my first gluten free cooking class. Yay! Of course I will be posting about that and sharing some of what I learn.
Tomorrow I have an appointment for a test called a biomeridian at a natural medicine center. I am excited about it because it should be able to tell me what allergies to food I have as well as if there are toxic levels in my body from pollution, allergens, etc. It feels good to be finding some people and places that can truly help me to find the cause of some of my health issues rather than just treat the symptoms. Also up and coming is a post about harmful ingredients that we need to avoid in products that we buy.
As soon as I get this space/memory thing worked out the pictures will be back. I always love posts with pictures. Stay tuned because I would like to get back to regular posting so you have something to feast on!
I would like to leave you with a verse that really speaks to me about TRUST.
Jeremiah 17:7-8
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

Tidbits
My blog has been a bit heavy lately so I thought I would post some interesting facts about me and some fun pictures. (I love to read blogs with a little of both - some seriousness and transparency as well as fun and excitement.)
*I have been seriously craving Daphnes Fire Feta lately. My friend posted about it on facebook and that was all it took. I splurged (well actually I had a gift card) and went and got a tub of it today. I WISH I had the recipe!
*I cannot wait to sleep through the night again. Cody started to sleep through the night in November, before he got the stomach flu and after that it has been all downhill! Can't complain too much though because when he was younger he was waking every one to two hours. I at least get 4-5 straight hours now.
* I love Ethiopian food and I haven't had it in a while. I hope to get to go have some soon.
* I cannot wait until the season premiere of 19 Kids and Counting tonight.
*Below are a few things I have gotten in the mail recently that have totally excited me. Yup - a dictionary! I am so excited about this because the definitions are not modern. In other words, when you look up the definition of marriage you get The act of uniting a man and woman for life...Marriage was instituted by God himself..."Marriage is honorable in all..." Heb. 13. and more! Love it! I also ordered four bible study books for myself. They will last me for quite a while. I am loving this because I haven't been able to sign up for church women's bible study in a while for various reasons. I was able to order exactly the books and topics that I needed. Can't wait to dig in.

*Corbin and I made homemade dog treats to take to our family's dog Rosie in Idaho for Christmas. It was so fun. I decorated the package with my cousins awesome stamps. Rosie (or Royeee as Cody calls her) gobbled the peanut butter treats up!
*This is the first year I have decided to do our family scrapbook digitally. I have done both traditional an digital scrapbooks for years but have reserved the digital for vacations. One reason I decided to start a digital family album for 2010 is because each year I take more and more pictures and I am not able to fit them into the traditional albums anymore. Or put it this way, I am not able to fit them into the ONE family album anymore. I was starting to do two for each year. It was getting to be too much. So now I am doing them digital and can put a ton of pictures in them and they don't even take up half the space. Here are a few of my favorite pages so far from my 2010 family album

*Corbin recently had his last day of his homeschooling bowling league, complete with Donuts and juice AND pizza. He won a trophy for Boys highest scratch score. I am so grateful for opportunities like this in our homeschool group.

*Last week we spent part of a day with my father-in-law (aka. Papa Dave) at a local park to play some baseball. Corbin has really taken to the game lately and loved to go and practice. He has improved a lot too over the many times we have been. He is great at pitching and batting. Cody went too and tried numerous times to get into the game. He had his little bat and ball to play with.

*I have been in awe of how times flies lately. When I look at Corbin I cannot believe his is so big already. It seems like I just had him and he was a little toddler. Time will fly with Cody too. One of the reasons I love photos so much is because I get to look back on the progress and growth. Love my two miracles! Here is Corbin...

What's happening?
Happy Saturday! I thought I would let you all know how things are going around here. We have had some pretty big things happening so it is clearly time for an update.
Steve has now been home for about a month recovering from his Micro lumbar discectomy and is scheduled to go back to work next week. I know he is antsy to get back to work but he has enjoyed his down time and getting to catch up on his reading. His incision is healing well and he is getting around better. He still has some shooting pains and some sciatic pain here and there but it doesn't shoot down his leg like it used too. We are wondering though if the pain he still has is normal. We may ask the doctor to request an MRI at the end of the month to double check that all is well in there.
Cody is almost healed from the chicken pox. That seriously was a breeze. I would rather do that than fevers and flues and sicknesses like that. It still cracks me up that they have a vaccination now for chicken pox. (no offense to those that partake in that) but it is just not scary. I know for a person with a weakened immune system it would be a bit more traumatic to have chicken pox so I am thankful that Cody is healthy as well as those around us. I do hope Corbin gets them so we can get them out of the way for life. We will see. The incubation period is almost up.
Other than that we just enjoyed a week filled with family visits. My Aunt, Uncle, and Cousins came down last weekend to help celebrate Cody's first birthday. My brother and sister-in-law came into town for the week for a visit. We enjoyed time with our family. We went on our annual trip to a local mountain town to celebrate apple season and enjoyed some meals out along with some good visiting time and some down time. I love my family! I am so grateful for them in my life.
We also were able to do school daily while our family was here but enjoyed the flexibility of homeschooling and being able to stop and start when we like. Corbin had his mid-week soccer and end of the week bowling league too. A fun filled week.
I actually got some Christmas shopping done last week as well. There used to be a time in my life when I used to have it all done by end of October (at the latest.) Boy have things changed. I feel good that I was able to get some gifts though. A "head start." We have been talking about and planning our Christmas vacation this year. It is getting me looking forward to Christmas. We usually stay home for Christmas and anyone who wants can come over and be with us. We like to do our own traditions at home. We will still be partaking in some of those this year but since we are in limbo with a place to live and all our Christmas stuff in storage we thought it would be a good year to have an away Christmas. I wouldn't normally do this because I am stickler about the kids being able to be home on Christmas but this year we have family moving to Boise, Idaho and we would like to be with them to celebrate. We also would like to look around the area at homes and properties. There are so many qualities that we like in Boise and the more we talk about it the more it fits within our vision for our lives and our children's lives. Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God. Only the Lord knows our future!
Have a wonderful rest of your weekend. Lord willing, I hope to meet you back here for Menu Monday!
Blessings.

I'm Here!
I have been absent lately from blogging as much as I would like to. I think about it everyday though. Does that count?
May is always a VERY busy month around here. We have two family birthdays and Mother's Day. On top of that we have had some sickness and a myriad of life issues to be settled. All is good though.
So aside from the above here are some of the things I have been up to:
+Going through a big box of heritage photos and memorabilia from my Grandma's side. Seriously there are some in there that are 100 years old. I am organizing them into a power sort. Once I am done with that I will be scanning the originals in to make digital storybooks for the family. A huge undertaking and very interesting to say the least.
+Making my first "dry rub" baby back ribs. They turned out yummy! Here is the recipe from one of my favorite cooking websites: Baby Back Ribs.
+Taking my boys to play at the park.
+Taking my boys to storytimes at various places.
+Enjoying our home fellowship weekly.
+Bidding farewell to the last MOMS of all Seasons at my church. The Tea and Raffle went well.
+Attending the CFS Homeschool Expo for two days. It was very encouraging.
+Planning my next crop at the end of the month (the 29th).
+Planning a Creative Memories unit Meeting that I am hosting this month.
+Creating recipe cards in Storybook Creator Plus 3.0 to put into my Picfolio Milestones family recipe book
Here is one of our favorites:
+ Assembling and installing my sons NEW booster seat compliments of my Mother-in-law.
+Teaching Corbin reading and some math.
+Going to Garden Club with my boys. Corbin gets to Garden with the Grandmas and Grandpas at a senior facility. He gets to see seeds grow into beautiful vegetables and get to know some sweet elderly people.
+Helping Corbin make a model airplane.
+Making some cards with my cousin Stephanie's AWESOME stamps!
Here is one:
We have been having fun around here. I have been choosing Joy and enjoying my family and the interests and talents that God has given me. One thing on my list to do is get back to reading. I haven't read in a while. I have a Karen Kingsbury book waiting for me!
